Reading is Fundamental (RIF)
Bringing Up Grades (BUG)

RIF - Two Tuesdays each month of the school year, after our noon meeting,  members of Bexar Kiwanis go to Bonham Academy in downtown San Antonio.  We let first, second and third grade children read to us.  This is an immensely rewarding program for us and the children love our visits.  We are continually amazed at the reading ability of the children and their vocabulary level.  Bonham is unique in that both wealthy and homeless children attend this school and we can rarely tell the difference.

BUG is a Kiwanis International program for which RIF qualifies.  We present Tee shirts and certificates to kids who bring at least one grade up without dropping another one.
